The Specialist Series

Emergency Medicine

Emergency Medicine has become one of the most competitive specialities in all of healthcare!  It’s no wonder, given the amazing opportunities that abound in that field.

To be a good emergency medicine physician, you need to be highly skilled at caring for a variety of ailments and injuries.  It’s difficult to be good enough at all of those aspects of medicine to be able to care for that many different issues.

A skilled emergency medicine physician may see several dozen patients in a shift, so you’ve got to be at the top of your game!

The flexible schedules, high compensation, and opportunities for advanced training lead this specialty to be among the most highly sought-after.

Some people also are drawn to the shift schedule, knowing that when their shift is over, they’re off the clock and not worried about being “on call.”

Not everyone is cut out for the frenetic pace, but for those who love to feel adrenaline pumping through them for 10-12 hours at a time, this is an amazing area of medicine to explore!

If you like taking care of sick people, pulling off amazing feats of life-saving care, and having a job that’s flexible to accommodate your lifestyle, emergency medicine may be for you!
